We arranged a zoom meeting and within seconds my wife and I gave one another a look: ‘this is the one’. Sarah is so very attentive, really listened and understood instantly what we wanted on our special day. She made suggestions based on what we had told her about our day and we went with them. Sarah was an absolute pleasure to work with – she spent time getting to know both of us and helped create a ceremony that felt very personal, and brought together our cultures and interests. We also loved the attention to detail and aftercare – she surprised us with an elegant box to take home, containing our beautifully wrapped ceremony candles. You will not find a more thoughtful, funny, professional and charming celebrant than Sarah – can’t recommend her highly enough.

We are extremely lucky that Sarah is a dear friend of ours. When we learned that she was choosing to change her career and become a celebrant we knew this was the opportunity made for her and would allow others to experience the compassion, love and thoughtfulness that Sarah delivers and exudes in abundance in her day to day life.

Due to covid we had to postpone our wedding 4 times. As a result by the time our wedding could finally go ahead we wanted to ensure it was personal and intimate, not showy. We had initially agreed to be married by the church but did not feel the service they were able to provide us with was about us.

When we asked Sarah whether she would be interested in being part of our day she jumped at the chance.

Sarah would deliver a joint marriage service with the church to enable us to marry. Sarah spoke with the church to see whether this would indeed be possible to hold such a service and when they agreed she took control of the majority of aspects of our service.

She took the time to research us and get us to reflect on our relationship, which in fact allowed us to fallen even deeper in love with each other. She took time to get to know us in greater depth and looked into how we are as a couple ensuring that we were each able to be represented in the way we wanted to be on our day.

Sarah spent time finding the most prefect readings that represented us so well in our relationship, she spent time visiting the venue, liaising with the church and ensuring that no matter what our day was going to be how we wanted it to be.

Knowing Sarah was at the helm on the most important day of our lives was incredible. She was beautifully eloquent, funny, passionate, attentive, calm, dedicated, and her words echoed every sentiment of the love we hold for each other as well as our family & friends. She even surprised us by mentioning our cat and furbaby Atticus, into the service (which meant the absolute world) .

Each and every personal touch just felt so special.

We felt incredibly blessed to know that not only were we finally getting married but that we were being married by our dearest friend… I don’t think we could have dreamt of a better way to get married!!!

Even if Sarah wasn’t our friend, I’d have wanted her involved in such an important life milestone. She is self assured, compassionate, attentive, understanding, inclusive, supportive and makes a celebration out of life. She all about celebrating people, the love they have for one another and promoting the memories and stories and highlights from their lives – all without you realise she is collating all this information!!!

She brings the joy to the forefront and she does this with ease… that’s just who she is.

I have no doubt in my mind that even though she has only been a celebrant less than 6 months she is already phenomenal at her job. She exudes confidence - not in a cocky way - but in a reassuring manner than makes you know that all will be ok with her involvement and being in charge of your day.

I cannot recommend her highly enough. Seriously, look no further for any celebrant need you may require. You will be incredibly grateful that you booked her.

Sarah thank you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, for not only being our friend, for helping us prepare for the biggest day of our lives but by making it the best day of our lives. You finally helped us to become husband and wife and we will forever be grateful to you for being such a class act.

We had the honour of being Sarah’s first couple as a celebrant. We were in an unusual position in that we married during the pandemic in a heavily restricted legal ceremony but were due to hold our belated wedding day celebration on our first wedding anniversary. We knew that we wanted some form of ceremony but unsure what that might involve until we got in touch with Sarah. It soon became clear that she was the missing part of our wedding celebration puzzle.

We had many conversations during which Sarah learnt about the story of our relationship and life together. She weaves this into a beautiful script for our ceremony and came up with ideas we wouldn’t have thought of and it all worked perfectly.

The ceremony and how Sarah delivered it was one of the highlights of our day. So many of our guests commented on how beautiful the ceremony was, how unique and how fantastic Sarah was. We wanted a ceremony which was personal, meaningful and memorable and Sarah provided us with that, and more.

We could not recommend Sarah enough to anyone who was looking for a celebrant. We were privileged to be her first couple but know that we will be the first of many. Thank you, Sarah!

14th April, 2023 - Eltham Crematorium

Hi Sarah,

Sorry this has taken a while to send to you but I just wanted to pass on our thanks for the beautiful service you did for my lovely Grandad Ron.

Thank you for guiding us through the process. At such an emotional time it’s easy to get lost but you were just amazing at keeping us on the right track and giving Grandad the send-off he deserved.

I must also thank you for reading the poem, you read it perfectly! It told the story of my memories with Grandad just as I'd hoped.

Dear Sarah,

I just wanted to drop you a few lines to say thank you for Tuesday. We were over the moon with the words you'd written and the way you conducted the service, we honestly could not have asked for more. Everyone who attended said what a great job you'd done.

Thank you also for being so compassionate and accommodating when we had to change our meeting last minute.

We're so pleased that you were recommended to us and please keep doing what you do.

We just wanted to say a big thank you for all the effort you put in delivering Mum's service yesterday.

We had so many lovely comments on how the service went and how great you were.!

What with the weather we all felt it was a perfect send off for Mum.

6th February, 2023 – Kemnal Park Cemetery and Ceremonial Park

We attended Mary’s farewell at Kemnal Park and wanted to say what a lovely Service was presided over by Sarah Sweeney, the Celebrant. These days, depending on people’s beliefs, they do not necessarily want a Religious Service, but this Service was the nicest that we’ve attended, conducted by a Celebrant.

Sarah had a warm and caring way with her. We know it was her job, but it was more than that. She was so very sincere. Nothing was rushed and she treated everyone, including Mary, with respect. She is an asset to you [funeral directors] and for anyone else that uses her services.

We had Sarah as our celebrant for one of the hardest moments in our life, the still birth of our beautiful son. Sarah was superb throughout. She helped us choose the right structure for the ceremony, words, poems and music choices. So many people complimented the way she handled such a delicate service. We couldn’t recommend her enough.
